‘Mother of all the mothers is in great despair, she needs our love and care’, was the keynote of the Earth Day celebrations in the school. The students expressed this motif through various Inter House Competitions. Poems were recited and compositions were written on thought provoking pictures. It is believed that children learn by doing. ‘Best out of Waste’ brought out many ways of reusing the waste material effectively which proved to be a practical lesson for the young Shemstars. This thought and theme was also expressed by compiling beautiful and colourful scrap files filled with posters and pictures depicting the plight that mother earth is undergoing. Beautiful collages were also made by them. A quiz based on Earth Day and speeches to spread awareness among their fellow students was the contribution made by the seniors students. The tiny tots of Shem Foundation were taken for a nature walk around the beautiful gardens in the school campus. They were also shown how to germinate seeds in tiny pots. Principal, Ms. Amita Dhaka encouraged the students to plant a seed on every birthday, it would be in this way that they could invest oxygen for their own future. She said “Save the earth in your own little way.”
