The Shemstars of Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore, went for a ten day educational tour to the United States of America. They spent the first two days of the tour at the Kennedy Space Centre. They understood the legacy of space exploration of NASA. The Shemstars swelled with pride and admiration when they learnt how fondly Indian astronaut Kalpana Chawla, who has made a mark in the history of NASA, is remembered there. They also got an opportunity to meet Tom Jones, an astronaut who has the distinction of going on five missions from NASA They also enjoyed a lavish lunch with him there. Thus, the young Shemstars learnt from the firsthand experience of the astronaut, facts about the infinite space beyond our planet Earth.
The Shemstars also visited the Disney Land and the Universal Studios in Orlando, Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 memorial and the World trade Centre in New York.
