SPORT ACHIEVERS AT DISTRICT LEVEL

The Shemstars of Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore brought laurels to the school with their exemplary performance in Swimming, Shooting and Taekwondo at the district level. In the tough competition among all the government and private schools of the vicinity, Aryan Bhatti bagged 3 gold, securing the first position in 200m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly stroke in the U-17 category. Avni Sharma clinched three gold and one silver in the U-14 category, securing the first position in 100m freestyle and 100m breast stroke and second position in 50 m freestyle. In the U-14 category for shooting (Air Rifle) at the district level, our Shemstar Panaah Bhugra grabbed the gold. She had also participated at the State level and secured 38th position out of 600 girls of all age groups.  She has been qualified for the Nationals. In Taekwondo competition at the district level, Robin Singh clinched the gold medal in the U-17 category. In U-14 category Tanishq and Jyotir Aditya won the gold medal.

Undoubtedly, the ‘Khelo Shemstars’ initiative undertaken at school to open avenues in sports for the students, has increased the zeal and enthusiasm of the students manifold.

NUTRITION GARDEN AT SHEMFORD, PINJORE

During the Tree Plantation Week a variety of vegetables and fruits were planted in the newly developed nutrition garden by the students of the Primary Wing of Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore.

The management of Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore leaves no stone unturned to do the best for their Shemstars. In the lush green, 10 acre campus of the school, a ‘Nutrition Garden’ has been set up under the able guidance of Dr. Mrs. Bimla Arora, PhD, Nutrition, Leeds University, UK.

The members of the Rotary Club, Pinjore Hills and Punjabi Sabha (Arora and Khatri), Pinjore, also contributed to the drive and planted saplings of some fruit trees to add to the week-long celebration. They remarked that they had chosen the campus of Shemford, Pinjore because the ornate green campus of the school confirms the faith that great care is taken of the flora which is a great contribution to the conservation of the degenerating environment. They congratulated the school management and Principal for their unstinted efforts in the benefit of the children.

Keeping in view the request made by working parents, the management has also taken a unique initiative of providing Brunch boxes with nutritious food combos which are easy and convenient to eat during the short school break. The menu, with a variety of delicious Indian traditional and continental items, has been thoughtfully chalked out under the guidance of Dr. Mrs. Bimla Arora. This initiative has been appreciated and welcomed especially by the working parents of the students.

All these steps strengthen the faith of the parents that at Shemford, we do what we preach.

A special assembly was conducted at Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore today to observe Kargil Vijay Diwas, World Nature Conservation Day and Parents’ Day.  As a tribute to the martyrs of the War, a movie was also shown to the young Shemstars to make them aware of the facts of the Kargil war. They were all enthused with patriotism and pledged to lead the role of a responsible citizen of the nation. The Shemstars also presented beautifully choreographed dance performances on Parents’ day and World Nature Conservation Day. Speeches were delivered and beautiful poems were recited on the themes. The school hall resounded with applause for the efforts made by the students.

 This was followed by oath taking ceremony. All teachers and students assembled in the school hall, pledged together, to free mother India and mother Earth from all vices. Dr Mrs Bimla Arora, Director, Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore, in her address to the gathering said that it is our foremost duty to love and respect our parents, Mother India and  Mother Earth. She encouraged the children to plan surprises for their parents to make their day a special one. She also emphasized that if each one of us is performing one’s duties honestly, we are serving our country.

The Shemstars also participated in various class activities to mark the day. They made cards, wrote letters and articles showing their love and gratitude to their parents. The students of the senior wing actively participated in extempore and debate on the same theme. The excitement shown by the Shemstars was a ray of hope that we, at Shemford, are successfully grooming responsible citizens for the nation and the globe.

The tiny tots of the Pre Primary Wing of Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore enjoyed a luscious Mango Party at school today. At Shemford every Wednesday is a Wow Wednesday filled with activities and fun. The children came dressed in yellow attire for the theme of the day. Melodious rhymes sung by the Shemstars echoed in the corridor and various fun games were organized for them to teach them the importance of fruits and the need to take care of them.

To add to the celebrations the little Shemstars shared their party tiffin, with mangoes in the form of juice, pickles, custard and much more with their friends.

At Shemford Futuristic School Pinjore, hands on learning is the key motive for every age group.
It was observed and deduced that to raise responsible and wise citizens for the nation, it is
imperative to sensitize them about the importance of choosing and voting for the deserving
candidate for the parliament. Keeping this in mind, the school organized and conducted the
Annual School Cabinet Elections, 2019-2020, today.

This year also after the selection of candidates from all the four houses for the posts of School
Minister, School Discipline Minister, School Cultural Minister, School Health and Hygiene
Minister and School Sports Minister a period of four days was given, wherein they convinced
their peers as to why each one of them would be the best choice. Principal, Ms. Amita Dhaka,
made the students aware that each and every vote would help the deserving candidate win or
lose, thus as a responsible Shemstar each student should ensure to cast a vote.

After the four – day campaigning, today polling booths were set up under the guidance of the
Chief Election Commissioner of the school, Ms. Kamlesh Sharma, to ensure fair voting. The
first vote was cast by the Principal, Ms. Amita Dhaka. It was indeed a spectacle to see the young
Shemstars growing into responsible citizens for the nation.

TREE PLANTATION WEEK OBSERVED AT SHEMFORD, PINJORE

A week long tree plantation drive was held at Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore beginning
from July, 15. With an initiative taken by the teachers and students of the Eco Club of the school,
it was an endeavour to sensitize the young Shemstars towards the need to save the environment.
With the increasing levels of air pollution, it becomes all the more important to make the
children aware that trees provide the most crucial element for existence- oxygen.

The Management of Shemford has taken the initiative to start the nutrition garden in the school
premises. The Shemstars of Primary grades onwards planted various saplings of different fruit
and vegetable plants. It was a treat to the eyes to see the tiny Shemstars of the Pre Primary Wing
learning to plant saplings in small flower pots in the school premises. Their eagerness to plant
one at home as well, was indeed a promising ray of hope.

The students of the Eco Club also raised slogans in the entire campus of the school to emphasize
the need to save the environment, to grow more trees and keep the air pollution free, which is the
responsibility of each and every citizen of the globe. The management, Principal and staff also
planted new saplings in the sprawling campus of 10 acres. Principal, Ms. Amita Dhaka, guided
the children not to destroy the greenery and to save the scenery, to Save Mother Earth.

On account of World population Day, the Shemstars conducted an awareness drive at Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore. This awareness dive was initiated to sensitize the students towards the hazards and ill effects of the growing population. Banners and pla-cards were displayed in all the classes and empathic speeches were delivered on the topic. The message that population growth is the primary source of environmental damage was effectively conveyed to all.

SHEMSTARS CELEBRATE DOCTOR’S DAY

The Shemstars celebrated Doctor’s day to honour one of the noblest professions. The
service rendered by the doctors to mankind can never be remunerated. The Shemstars
expressed their gratitude to the doctors and paramedical staff with amazing facts and
speeches. Children from the Primary Wing presented bouquets as a token of love and
appreciation.

On this special occasion, Principal, Ms. Amita Dhaka announced a unique initiative of
Shemford, Pinjore, of providing healthy, sumptuous and nutritious brunch to the
Shemstars during break. The menu has been well planned and designed by Dr. Mrs.
Bimla Arora herself, which is easy and convenient to eat. This venture has been
welcomed by students and their parents. They congratulated the school for this initiative.

To teach the Shemstars the importance of healthy food, a unique game ‘Slides and
Ladders’ has been developed in the school premises under the able guidance of Dr. Mrs.
Bimla Arora, PhD, Nutrition. In this game, the Shemstars climb the ladder if they eat
healthy food and slide down with the intake of junk food.

SHEMSTARS ON EDU TRIP TO UNITED STATES

The Shemstars of Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore, went for a ten day educational tour to the United States of America. They spent the first two days of the tour at the Kennedy Space Centre. At NASA they gained a lot of knowledge about renowned space shuttles like Apollo, Voyager 1 & 2 and the legendary Atlantis that completed 33 missions before retiring. They understood the legacy of space exploration of NASA. The Shemstars swelled with pride and admiration when they learnt how fondly Indian astronaut Kalpana Chawla, who has made a mark in the history of NASA, is remembered there. They also got an opportunity to meet Tom Jones, an astronaut who has the distinction of going on five missions from NASA They also enjoyed a lavish lunch with him there. Thus, the young Shemstars learnt from the firsthand experience of the astronaut, facts about the infinite space beyond our planet Earth.

 

The Shemstars also visited the Disney Land and the Universal Studios in Orlando, Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 memorial and the World trade Centre in New York. Their experience of the Maid of the Mist at the Niagara Falls was beyond imagination!   This educational tour was planned by the school management to give the young students a vision into the world beyond their own, to motivate them to set higher targets in life and achieve the same.
