WORLD HERITAGE DAY OBSERVED AT SHEMFORD, PINJORE

To help the Shemstars become responsible citizens of the world when they grow up, the importance of our heritage was emphasized upon on the World Heritage Day at Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore. Cultural richness is something to be cherished and adopted was the message given to the children the Principal, Ms. Amita Dhaka. A special assembly comprising of speech, poems and amazing facts was conducted. Inter House Declamation competition and Inter House Quiz Competitions were also organized.

 

The tiny tots of the Pre Primary wing participated in the Heritage races which was a unique and effective way to acquaint them with the important monuments of India. The Shemstars of classes 1 and 2 were taken to the Yadvindra gardens to mark the day. The Yadvindra garden is a historic 17th century garden located in Pinjore. It is an example of Mughal architectural design.

 

“We will preserve and take care of our inherited wealth- be it the monuments, literature or the customs”, the children vowed.

SHEMFORD PINJORE CELEBRATES BAISAKHI

It was a cherished morning at Shemford Pinjore, when the Shemstars greeted one another on the onset of the new year, Baisakhi. The Shemstars of the Primary and Pre Primary wing brought into the premises all the hues of life being clad in bright Punjabi attire. Beautiful dances presented by them left the audience enthralled. Speeches and poems were also delivered to enlighten them about the reason to celebrate this event.

The Shemstars paid homage to the martyrs by depicting their sacrifices through a beautifully enacted skit which filled everybody’s eyes with tears. The silence that prevailed in the school hall after the skit seemed to announce the commitment of the Shemstars towards their motherland. This Baisakhi also marked the hundred years of the massacre at Jallianwala Bagh in 1919.

To honour the principal architect of the Constitution of India, Dr. B R Ambedkar, speeches were delivered in his honour and a quiz was conducted on the life and works of the great personality. The Principal, Ms Amita Dhaka guided the students to understand their responsibility towards the nation and adhere to the Constitution of India in true spirit. She also conveyed her greetings and a prosperous new year to the Shemstars and their families.

‘It is health that is real wealth, not pieces of gold and silver’ – was the message conveyed in the morning assembly by the young Shemstars at Shemford, Pinjore. Stressing upon the theme, ‘Smoke Free World’ of World Heath Day for the year 2019, Dr Shashi Gupta guided the young children to keep their surroundings smoke free to live a healthy life.

A group discussion was organized for the senior students with the doctor at school to mark the event. The Shemstars of the Primary Wing participated enthusiastically in the inter house collage making competition while the students of the middle school came prepared with declamations and power point presentations on the theme of the day. The students of classes 1 & 2 eagerly participated in a fancy dress competition marking the day in their own little way. After the day’s events the Shemstars could gather the message that – ‘To keep the body in good health is a duty, and to do so it is important to keep the environment pollution free- smoke free.’

An orientation session was conducted at Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore, for the parents who are new to the Shemforsd family. At Shemford, it is strongly believed that both teachers and parents play an important role in the growth and development of the children and its only through open communication, fruitful discussions and active participation of both that we are able to lay a strong foundation for them. This was the underlying theme of the orientation programme held for the parents which began with a melodious welcome song by the school choir.

 

Principal, Ms Amita Dhaka said that it was an endeavour to acquaint the parents with ShemEdumaxTM, the unique research based child friendly curriculum of Shemrock and Shemford Group of Schools developed and improved at its R&D Office at New Delhi.

 

The Orientation Program was graced by Dr. Mrs Bimla Arora the Director of Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore.

The parents were steered through the methodologies adopted at Shemford to strike a balance between work and play. They were acquainted with the activities, system schedule and ERP system that bridges the gap between home and school, the assessment system, and the sports facilities available in the school sports complex. Apart from this, the beautiful journey through the Pre Primary Wing brought contagious smiles on their faces.

 

Dr. Mrs. Bimla Arora, left the audience captivated with her speech which focussed around Parenting Tips and how effectively parents can contribute to the unique curriculum, ShemEdumaxTM to help their children grow up to be not only successful citizens but also good human beings. The contentment of having made a right choice of school at the end of the programme confirmed that such interactive sessions are definitely beneficial.

An orientation session was organized at Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore for the teachers before the commencement of the new session. This informative session was about the latest approaches in the teaching – learning pedagogy. Teachers were oriented about various futuristic methods of teaching the new generation tech savvy children. The session led to the ignition of a positive attitude among the teachers towards the multitude ways of teaching students and to manage the classes so that learning comes alive and each child gets personal attention and becomes a shining star.

Another workshop was conducted by psychologist, Tanvi Seth from Fortis, Mohali. It was an interactive session on management skills of teachers and students wherein easy ways to cope with different type of role & responsibilities were discussed.

Dr. Mrs. Bimla Arora, Director, Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore, who is also a Nutritionist, added that a healthy mind rests in a healthy body. Balanced diet and positive attitude are imperative for a healthy mind, which is the key factor to living a healthy and happy life

SHEMSTARS PAY TRIBUTE TO MARTYRS

A special assembly was conducted at Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore to pay homage to the martyrs who lost their lives in the Pulwama attack. On 14 February 2019, a convoy of vehicles carrying security personnel on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethpora (near Awantipora) in the Pulwama districtJammu and Kashmir, India. The attack resulted in the deaths of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel.  This attack has affected each and every Indian to the core. The Shemstars, being children of tender age were also in great turmoil of what happened, why it happened and what is the government doing about it. Their queries were resolved by an interactive discussion wherein they were explained about the roots of the trouble and the steps that the government has taken as a silent attack to revenge the martyrdom. Two minute silence was observed in the assembly. This was followed by slogans in the glory of India and her soldiers. The Shemstars understood well that each and every Indian can play his part in his own little way to prove his love for the country.

The newly developed Adventure Court at Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore was inaugurated on February 14. It was inaugurated by Dr. R.C. Mishra, IPS, ADGP cum Commissioner Police, Ambala who was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. The chief guest was welcomed with a melodious welcome song after which he inaugurated the well-designed Adventure Court. The excited and energetic Shemstars exhibited their skills in the Adventure Court. This was followed by an energetic and mesmerizing dance performance by the Shemstars who are very excited about this new addition in the School Sports Complex.

The Adventure Court includes the Burma Bridge, Commando Net, Rope Gliding, Spider Web, Tyre Wall, Tyre Tunnel, Zip Line, Parallel Balance Beam and much more. It is one of its kind in the vicinity and a great attraction for the students of all classes.

Khelo Shemstars is a unique initiative at Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore as sports and games has always been of prime importance. It is believed that the children should be exposed to various disciplines in both scholastic and co-curricular activities at the grass root level to help their parents/teachers identify their interests and encourage them for the same.

The ‘Khelo Shemstars’ initiative of the school provides support and training to the young Shemstars to learn and practice the games of their choice. Studies reveal that involving children in sports activities helps to:

  • Develop their gross and fine motor skills, strengthen their muscles and bones and increase their physical stamina and fitness.
  • Improve their mental faculties, expanding their concentration and attention span and reasoning skills.
  • Stimulate a child’s imagination, creativity and stirs up a lot of artistic and innovative ideas.

Dr R C Mishra congratulated the Shemford Family for being the first school in the vicinity to develop the unique concept in the school premises. He also added That Shemford  Futuristic School, Pinjore is truly futuristic in approach as it is preparing the future generations to face the challenges in the journey of life.

BASANT PANCHMI CELEBRATED AT SHEMFORD, PINJORE

Basant Panchmi was celebrated at Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore with great zeal and enthusiasm. The celebrations began with the worshipping of Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge. Floral tributes were offered to Goddess Sarawati by the Principal, teachers and students to seek blessings on this auspicious day. In the special assembly the Shemstars presented informative speeches, poems and facts. The recitation of the Saraswati vandana by the school choir filled the ambience with serenity. A beautiful dance performance was the highlight of the celebration. Shemstar Narayan of UKG stole the show when he took the entire audience by surprise by playing ‘Hey Sharde Maa’ on the harmonium and reciting it alongside. The school hall echoed with applause for this tiny tot who confirmed that even with a global outlook, the roots of the Shemstars are deeply embedded in the culture and heritage of the nation.

Principal, Ms. Amita Dhaka, in her address to the assembly enlightened all present of the relevance of Saraswati puja on Basant Panchmi and motivated the Shemstars to study hard to come out with flying colours in the forthcoming final examination.

MATHEMAGIC WITH ABACUS AT SHEMFORD, PINJORE

Child centered learning is the key note at Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore. The motive has always been to induce interest in learning so that learning comes alive. As the annual examination is approaching, it is a great pleasure to see the young Shemstars so confident with mathematical calculations. This has been possible with the Abacus classes functioning along with the regular mathematics periods. With Abacus, children have learnt easy, quick and accurate methods of calculations. The parents remark, “It gives immense satisfaction to see our children comfortable in a subject like mathematics.”  Our young Shemstar Angelica Piplani also exhibited her expertise on the National television, India’s Best Dramebaaz, and mesmerized the entire nation with her mathemagic expertise. The school aims to continue to adopt any possible approach both in scholastic and co scholastic areas to groom the children into confident SHEMSTARS.
